Ding Dong the Pumpkin's Dead

Photobucket
OK - we survived Halloween! Hallelujah. I just can't like Halloween. I try, for the sake of my kiddos, I try. You see, Halloween in Alaska is an EXPERIENCE. First, you must consider the weather (this year Mother Nature graced our little trick 'r treaters with GAIL FORCE WINDS - literally had to hold masks down or they would fly off). Then one must consider how they are going to convince their little tot that the ninja costume is every bit as fierce with layers upon layers of fleece long underwear bulging out of it. AND the topper - the "sprinkles on my cupcake" as my friend Shannon would say, is when this same little tot who's bursting at the seams in The Impenetrable Ninja Suite tells you, in the gail force winds, that they have to pee. Yay Halloween!

Victorious Victory Curls

OK, so I was clearly born in the era for which I was meant. Although I have always had a soft spot for anything and everything 40's-50's inspired (as I write I am listening to Sinatra), alas, if I were raising my family in the 50's I would have certainly overindulged on any mother's little helper I could get my hands on - ON. A. DAILY. BASIS. My hair-do quest for the Glitz and Glam 1940's/50's school auction was the "Victory Curl" up-do. You know, the super-fabo-waive-roll-curl thing on the top of your head. Sounds easy enough. Looked easy enough. Was NOT easy enough. Am embarrassed to admit (but will do so for your enjoyment) that this process took nearly 1.5 hours, there were stomping of feet in bathroom, heavy sighs from ever so patient husband, and last but most certainly NOT least arrived 45 minutes late to the event that inspired this craziness to begin with. Seriously, how did those women do it? I am in total and utter awe of them. I bow down. I'm hoping tomorrow is my lucky day and I will have CLEAN hair, perhaps clean socks, and if it's not too much to ask dinner actually AT the table.....not in the car on the way to hockey. VICTORIOUS!

PLASTIC

Anyone out there ever had the joy of discovering a plastic plate in the oven AFTER you've been pre-heating it for the past 20 mintues?
Let me be the first to tell you, it is so choice. If ever given the opportunity, I HIGHLY recomend it. Pumkin Spice candles in the fall? HECK NO! I prefer the Toxic Fumes of the Melted Plastic Plate flavor myself.
F.Y.I. - just because the plasitc is stringing like spaghetti from your oven racks, don't be fooled. It is razor sharp.

'Tis the Season.....

to be sick. Gav and Gabe both down with colds again. Due to swine flu we must keep children home if they display ANY sypmtoms....(i.e. fever of 99.5 and sore throat). So, here we are. Knee deep in Clifford re-runs and chicken soup. Lord, have mercy. Can I get a "Amen".

We are starting to feel winter....buuurrrrrr. Woke up to 23 degrees Saturday morning. Gavin and Gabe are enjoying hockey and school. We are gearing up for the school auction this Saturday at Evangelo's restaurant. We're dressing up in 40's / 50's "glitz and glam". Should be fun! The local performing arts studio has donated costumes for us to wear. Mine is sliver w/ diamonds. Wahoo!
